Research and exhibition on cultural diversity at the Fonds BKVB during "de Droom Intendanten".
In early 2006 the BKVB Fund placed an appeal in various news and trade papers, in which an ‘intendant’ for cultural diversity was sought. Around fifty concrete plans and applications, varying in scale, outlook and effect, were received in response. Due to the divergent character of reactions it was decided to let a jury, consisting of members of the Pilot Project Panel, supplemented by experts in the area of cultural diversity, make a choice.
The jury consisting of Els van der Plas (chair), Mavis Carillho, Raoul de Jong, Johan Pijnappel, Engin Celikbas, Bart de Baere, Nikki Gonnissen, Wouter Vanstiphout and Lex ter Braak selected not one ‘intendant’, as was originally planned, but decided considering the diversity of applications to chose 6 projects of individuals or collectives (see jury report).
The 'intendants' were announced on February 7th 2007 and a public debate took place at the Podium Mozaïek in Amsterdam.
They are:
Atousa Bandeh Ghiasabadi;
Binna Choi and Kyongfa Che;
Jeanne van Heeswijk and Dennis Kaspori;
Ergün Erkoçu;
Michael Tedja, Remy Jungerman and Gillion Grantsaan;
Eline van der Vlist and Abdellah Karoum.
The ‘intendants’ realized their projects in 2007 until spring 2010, and publicly presented their outcomes at several moments and places during this period. The Fonds BKVB appointed a project manager who supported the ‘intendants’ if necessary and conceptualized overall presentations.
